Picture Time!

Here are some pictures from Sunday...my parents and I drove out to the Poppy Reserve and I (of course) brought my camera. :-D

(above) I wasn't sure how this one would turn out, because I had to position the camera down on the ground, level with the flowers.

I had to put this one up... :-D

Great Quotes...From My English Workbook?

These came out of the professor's own workbook that he made us purchase for about forty dollars...at least we got some laugh for our money!

"Do not use no double negatives in your writing."

"Despite the high cost of living, it remains quite popular."

"On the other hand, you have different fingers."

"A day without sunshine is like, you know, night."

"He may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don't let that fool you. He really is an idiot." -Groucho Marx

"I have had a perfectly wonderful evening, but this wasn't it." - Groucho Marx

Funny Pictures

I received an email forward with these great candid shots...

"Never let go...seagull"? Apparently that's what you get for trying to imitate a movie...

Okay, seriously?

This one's my favorite.

I can't believe this was actually on a road sign...

Are you smart enough to answer this advertisement?

Wow...
This had to have been some kind of cruel joke...
Can you outrun this dog?

McDonald's Receipt

This is a receipt from McDonalds when my brother and I had lunch the other day...
He wanted barbeque sauce for his half of the Mcnuggets, I wanted sweet and sour. I was asked, "would you like any ketchup for your fries?" and I said "no thank you." After I paid and got my receipt, I looked it over. They included the two sauces, but why does it say "1 ketchup" and indented underneath, "1 no"? I found that very highly amusing. Waste of paper and ink to put in that somebody doesn't want ketchup, don't you think?
I think what was funnier was the fact that they still gave us ketchup.
They'll never learn.

First Post

So...the first post. I figured I'd mention the reasoning behind my blogspot address. I was clicking through my iTunes, because I wanted to have a song title as the address. The first few came and went with no luck. Someone had already thought of them. Then I came across the song "Wonderful Maker." That has to be one of my favorite worship songs (okay, okay, I have many favorites...but I really like this one). Speaking of God creating the world and how He IS our Wonderful Maker, Wonderful Savior.

I actually played this song for my church down in La Mirada while I was at Biola last year. It is a small church, and I had the priviledge of helping lead worship there. I would come in with my guitar or play the piano every other week, and I had two ladies singing with me. It was nice to not have an entire band...I could NOT have handled that. I give props to Duane, Joel, Danny, and whoever else that might lead worship at Grace Chapel. I can't do that. I liked being the only musician, in a way, because I could play at my own pace. I didn't have to keep the beat going for the other instruments, or anything like that. On the other hand, if I'm the only musician, I can also mess up whenever I want to. (That wasn't exactly a goal of mine, but it sure did happen).

Mess up or not, I wanted to play this song for them. Now, understand that one of the ladies I sang with is a little bit older, and she can't just learn a song during practice on Sunday morning (like I've had to do before). When I mentioned to them that I really wanted to do "Wonderful Maker," she suggested that I do it as a solo during the offering, since she didn't know it. They did enjoy my solo on the song, but I really wish I had played it a few more times as a congregational piece. Oh well. They said if I'm ever in the area on a Sunday morning, to bring my guitar and they would let me lead worship. I miss them, but I don't see how that is going to work, considering that much of the time I'm singing on the worship team or choir here. Plus, I teach 3rd grade Sunday School. I don't want to have to call in a substitute so that I can go visit another church instead of teach my kids.

Dilemmas...
